Following the discovery of “engaged frames”, with an expansion of the relief gilded surround, I wanted to depict birds which resonated with me. Quail are delightful! Within the arched framework they are somehow sanctified and elevated to their rightful place as creatures. Nocturnes and crepuscular light lend an aura of tranquility, and a dreamlike quality which beckons me, and (hopefully) the viewer.
